AttoSense uses a label-free detection principle using a CMOS Biosensor.​

The chip's sensing surface is chemically modified to anchor antibodies or nucleic acid probes for target detaction.

When the target binds specifically to these probes (DNA captured by nucleic acid probes, antigens captured by antibodies, or vice versa), it induces a voltage change on the chip.

The biosensor can the electronic signals of both protein and DNA targets.
